The "8XL" suffix indicates the extra-long 8.000" version -- designed for race car applications where the TH350 transmission has been repositioned (set back) or where the chassis builder requires an extended slip section for body/tunnel clearance. At 8.000", this yoke is 2.531" longer than the standard T2-3-6081HP (5.469").
Race car chassis fabricators use extra-long slip yokes to allow the driveshaft to be cut shorter than stock, moving the tube closer to the transmission -- this reduces driveshaft weight and raises the critical speed. The extended yoke maintains adequate spline engagement while shortening the total shaft length. Forged chromoly construction handles the high shock loads of a race-prepared TH350 with a transbrake or line-lock. Pair with a 1310 U-joint and verify total shaft phasing before welding.
