Return & Refund Policy — Universal DriveShafts, Inc. (UDS)
At Universal DriveShafts, Inc. (“UDS,” “we,” “us”) we want every order to meet your expectations. This policy explains when a return or refund is available, who is responsible for shipping costs, and the steps to follow. By placing an order you agree to the terms below.
1. Return & Refund Eligibility
- Returns must be requested within 14 days of the delivery date. Requests made after 14 days will not be accepted.
- A Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number is required for every return. Items sent back without an approved RMA will be refused and no refund will be issued.
- To be eligible, items must be: in the same new condition as shipped; unused, uninstalled, and untested on any vehicle or application; and returned in the original packaging with all parts, hardware, and documentation.
- UDS reserves the right to inspect all returned items and to reduce or deny a refund for any item returned used, installed, modified, incomplete, or damaged.
2. Non-Returnable Items
The following are final sale and cannot be returned, refunded, or cancelled once production has begun:
- Custom-made, customized, made-to-order, or special-order driveshafts and components.
- Products that have been used, installed, modified, painted, machined, or damaged after delivery.
- Items marked clearance, closeout, or final sale.
- Core or used components, and electrical/special-order parts.
3. Premade, Custom & Oversized Items — Shipping Responsibility
For premade (pre-built / in-stock) driveshafts, customized or made-to-order driveshafts, and any oversized, heavy, or freight-class items, the customer is solely responsible for all return shipping and freight costs.
- These items are not eligible for prepaid or company-paid return labels. The customer arranges and pays for return transportation in full.
- Custom and made-to-order driveshafts are non-returnable (see Section 2). If, at our sole discretion, UDS approves a return as a one-time exception, the customer pays all return shipping plus the restocking fee.
- Due to length and weight, return freight on driveshafts and oversized items can be substantial; the customer accepts this cost in full before an RMA is issued.
- The customer is responsible for proper packaging and crating. Items damaged in return transit due to inadequate packaging are the customer’s responsibility and may void the refund.
- For freight returns, the customer must use a trackable, insured service and provide tracking. UDS is not liable for return shipments lost or damaged in transit.
4. Restocking Fee
- All approved returns are subject to a 10% restocking fee, deducted from the refund amount.
- This fee covers inspection, handling, and repackaging. The restocking fee is non-negotiable and non-refundable.
5. How to Request a Return
Submit your request through our website. Do not ship anything back until you receive an approved RMA and instructions.
- Registered customers: log in to My Account → Orders, select the order, and click Request Refund.
- Guest customers: visit Track Order, enter your Order ID and billing email, and follow the prompts.
Once submitted, our team reviews the request and, if approved, issues an RMA number with return instructions.
6. Return Shipping
- Securely pack the item in its original packaging with all included materials.
- Clearly label the package and ship it per the instructions provided with your RMA.
- Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer, except when the return is due to our error (wrong item shipped or a confirmed manufacturing defect).
- Premade, custom, and oversized/freight items are always shipped back at the customer’s expense (see Section 3).
- We recommend a trackable, insured service. UDS is not responsible for returns lost or damaged in transit.
7. Refunds
- After we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you of approval or rejection.
- Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 7–14 business days, minus the 10% restocking fee and any applicable shipping costs.
- Original shipping charges are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error.
- If a return is rejected because it does not meet the requirements above, the item will be returned to you at your expense, or held for 30 days before disposal if shipping cannot be arranged.
8. Order Cancellations
- Stock-item orders may be cancelled before they ship. Once shipped, the standard return process applies.
- Custom and made-to-order orders cannot be cancelled or refunded once production has begun.
9. Exchanges
We only replace items that are defective or damaged on arrival. Request an exchange through the same process above.
10. Damaged or Defective Items
- Inspect your order on delivery. Report any damage or defect within 5 business days of delivery with photos of the item and packaging.
- Keep all original packaging until the claim is resolved.
- For verified shipping damage or manufacturing defects, we will arrange a replacement or full refund, including return shipping.
11. Refused, Undeliverable & Wrong-Address Shipments
- If a shipment is refused or returned as undeliverable due to customer action or an incorrect/incomplete address provided by the customer, original and return shipping costs are deducted from any refund, in addition to the restocking fee.
- It is the customer’s responsibility to provide an accurate, complete shipping address at checkout.
12. Chargebacks
Please contact us first to resolve any issue. Filing a chargeback without following this policy may result in the loss of return eligibility and may be disputed with supporting documentation, including order records, tracking, and this policy.
13. Limitation of Liability
UDS is not responsible for labor, installation, towing, downtime, or any incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of our products. Our maximum liability is limited to the purchase price of the product. Buyer is responsible for confirming correct fitment before installation.
