The 3103-278 was developed specifically for racing applications where the chassis requires maximum driveshaft plunge range -- typically circle-track cars that use a TH350 or equivalent and experience large suspension travel or chassis flex under cornering loads. At 8.000" center-to-end, this transmission yoke provides 2.531" more slip travel than the standard 3103-275 (5.469" C-to-end). The additional length keeps the driveshaft tube engaged in the slip even when the chassis torques heavily on acceleration out of a corner. Confirm tube OD and wall thickness -- thinner-wall tubes can collapse if the yoke engagement depth reduces the effective tube section at extreme extension. Match with the appropriate 1310-series weld yoke at the rear for consistent series strength through the assembly.
