Full Description
The 3R-3-9170KX and 3R-3-9165KX share the same 3R series designation and 7.375" CL-to-end length, but differ in spline count. The 9170KX uses a standard 16-spline count at 1.375" diameter, versus the 31/32-count designation on the 9165KX. The 16-spline configuration is the more common fit for a wider range of transmission and transfer case output shafts.
The 3R series is an intermediate-duty joint family that bridges between the standard 1310 and larger 1350/1410. It uses a different cap geometry that may not be interchangeable with standard series joints even where the outside dimensions appear similar. Always confirm the series number against your existing U-joint part number.
