The 1303-21 slip yoke is engineered for precise axial travel within the driveshaft assembly while maintaining the rotational torque path between transmission output and driveshaft. Rated for the 1351-20 series, it features 20 splines at 1.310" diameter with a center U-joint-to-end dimension of 6.00".
Function of the Slip Yoke
Slip yokes serve a critical suspension articulation function: as the drivetrain moves through suspension travel, the driveshaft must lengthen and shorten slightly. The splined bore of the slip yoke slides on the transmission tail shaft or transfer case output shaft, accommodating this length change without binding. Worn slip yoke splines cause driveline backlash, vibration, and eventually transmission seal damage. The 1303-21 replaces worn units with fresh, precise splines.

Spline Fit and Seal Interaction
The 20-spline, 1.310" bore must match the transmission output shaft spline profile exactly. A loose fit causes clunking under load reversal; an oversized bore will not engage the shaft at all. The slip yoke also rides against the transmission extension housing seal -- a yoke with worn or scored sliding surfaces will damage the seal and allow fluid loss. The 1303-21 presents a clean, ground surface finish on the sliding area to protect the seal.
