At 7.500" center-to-end, the T3R-3-9161HP is the longest chromoly transmission yoke in the 3R series -- 2.160" longer than the Short TH400 variant (T3R-3-9762HP at 5.340"). This dimension is required when the TH400 has been relocated rearward in a custom chassis, when the transmission uses a long tailshaft extension, or when the driveshaft tube requires an extended engagement depth for structural reasons. The chromoly material is particularly important at this length because the longer moment arm between the U-joint and the snap-ring retention groove increases the bending stress on the yoke body during hard acceleration or deceleration. Standard mild steel fails at this length under sustained racing loads that chromoly handles without deflection.
