The T3R-3-9762HP is the performance forging in the 3R series for Short TH400 applications. The "3R" designation indicates an inside snap-ring retention style with a rolled-lip groove in the output shaft bore -- as opposed to the standard outside snap-ring used on some other GM output shafts. Confirm your TH400 tailshaft uses an inside snap-ring groove before ordering; substituting an inside-retention yoke on an outside-retention shaft will leave the yoke unrestrained axially.

The chromoly billet construction increases torque capacity relative to the standard-steel 3R03-400 variant without a significant weight penalty.
