6-53-151 -- UDS Heavy-Duty Midship Shaft, 10x1.953" Spline, 3.500"x0.156" Thick-Wall Tube
The 0.156-inch wall on the 3.500-inch tube that the 6-53-151 fits is the thickest tube wall in this midship shaft lineup -- nearly double the 0.083-inch wall used on standard 3.500-inch driveshaft tubes. Heavy-wall tubing is used where the driveshaft must survive high torque loads, severe impact, or continuous cyclic stress without tube fatigue. The larger 1.953-inch spline diameter (10-spline) reflects the same heavy-duty philosophy: more spline contact area for higher torque transfer than the 1.375-inch or 1.500-inch spline used in lighter-duty midship shafts.
Spline length: 2.875 inches. Butt diameter: 3.188 inches. End-to-weld: 5.156 inches. Bearing journal: 1.968 inches -- a larger-than-standard journal requiring a correspondingly larger center support bearing bore.
