The Corvette strap-style yoke uses U-bolt straps rather than snap rings to retain the U-joint caps -- the yoke ears have smooth bores without snap ring grooves, and the U-joint is retained by a strap that clamps over the cap. This design allows the U-joint to be replaced without pressing the caps, making field service faster. The 0.215" counterbore on this Corvette-specific yoke pilots against the TH400 output bearing retainer.

At 4.960" C/U-joint to end, this is one of the shortest TH400 yokes -- appropriate for the Corvette's low-profile tunnel packaging. The strap-retention style is specific to this application; do not substitute a standard snap-ring yoke if the Corvette driveshaft was factory-equipped with strap retention.
