The 3103-23 covers Toyota and Lexus rear-wheel-drive automatic transmissions produced from approximately 1989 through 2000, including the Cressida, SC300, and related platforms. Toyota's A-series automatic output shafts in this period used a 23-spline, 1.201" pitch diameter specification -- the same tooth count as the Mazda RX-8 but with a different hub profile (no shoulder removal required on this version).
- 23-spline x 1.201" PD -- Toyota/Lexus A-series automatic; different from Toyota truck manual spec
- 1.575" hub OD -- source tailshaft seal by this dimension; Toyota factory seals are typically 1.575" ID
- 5.750" C-to-end -- stock driveshaft length for Cressida and SC300 rear-drive platforms
- No counterbore -- flat seating face; inspect seal housing for burrs before installation
- Pairs with 1310-series U-joint; replace both joint and yoke as a set on high-mileage vehicles
Tip: the SC300 and Cressida use different driveshaft tube diameters despite sharing the yoke spec -- confirm tube OD before ordering a replacement shaft. The yoke (3103-23) is identical for both, but the tube and rear yoke differ. The transmission yoke is the common first point of failure on high-mileage Toyota RWD platforms due to spline wear from insufficient lubrication.
