2-40-2381 -- Slip Spline Stub Shaft, 16x1.250" Spline, 2.000" Tube, 6.000" End-to-Weld
The 1.250-inch spline diameter on the 2-40-2381 is smaller than the 1.375-inch diameter common on 1310 series slip assemblies, placing this stub shaft in the lighter-duty range used on compact trucks, vans, and some foreign-market vehicles. A slip yoke with a 1.250-inch, 16-spline bore must be used -- a 1.375-inch bore slip yoke will float rather than engage, and the spline profiles of different diameters are not compatible.
This stub shaft welds into a 2.000-inch OD, 0.120-inch wall tube. Butt diameter: 1.766 inches. Spline length: 2.000 inches. End-to-weld (open spline end to weld face): 6.000 inches. The 6.000-inch length means significant shaft extends into the tube before the weld joint -- calculate this when determining tube cut length.
