It replaces the full CV joint as a unit, not just one component. The 3R52-361 CV joint kit is dimensioned for one specific application: outer diameter, spline count, and race widths are all matched and verified.

The 3R52-361 CV joint kit specs: 30 x 34 spline. GM. Outer diameter determines fit in the housing bore. Spline count determines shaft engagement. Inner and outer race widths determine how the assembly stacks in the housing — all four specs must match. Substituting races from different part numbers causes uneven load distribution and early failure.
Pack the 3R52-361 CV joint kit thoroughly with CV grease during installation — fill the inner race cavity before seating the cage. CV joint failures from grease starvation happen faster than mechanical wear. Don't use wheel bearing grease — use CV-specific grease rated for the operating angle of your application.
