Full Description
The GM TH400 (Turbo Hydra-Matic 400) is another high-output 3-speed automatic commonly found in performance and racing applications. T3-3-5571HP is the "short" TH400 version -- at 6.938" C/U-joint to end, it is used in short-wheelbase drag cars and hot rods where driveshaft length is minimized. The long-wheelbase version is T3-3-5551HP at 7.940".
- Material: Forged chromoly -- appropriate for high-horsepower drag and street performance
- Finish: Black oxide -- basic corrosion protection, does not affect dimensions
- Series: 1350 -- 1.188" cap diameter; upgrade from 1310 is recommended above 500 lb-ft at the driveshaft
- Splines: 31/32 x 1.378" -- TH400 output shaft specification
- Hub: 1.886" -- match to TH400 output seal bore
- C/U-joint to end: 6.938" -- "short" version; confirm shaft length before ordering
For bracket racing builds, the short TH400 yoke reduces the compressed driveshaft length, which helps prevent the shaft from contacting tunnel bracing or driveshaft hoops installed in the chassis. Measure the available slip travel at ride height to confirm the short yoke provides adequate engagement at maximum rear suspension droop.
