Spicer 1810-series weld yoke for 4.500×0.134 tube with 4.234″ butt diameter and 3.375″ centerline-to-weld.
The 6.5-28-117 fits the same 4.500" OD tube as the 6.5-28-127 but at 0.134" wall versus 0.259" -- almost half the wall thickness. The butt diameter increases proportionally: 4.234" versus 3.984" on the heavier-wall variant. The two yokes share the same 3.375" CL-to-weld geometry, which confirms the 1810-series U-joint position is identical regardless of which tube wall is used. This dimensional consistency simplifies shaft fabrication when wall thickness must be changed mid-project for weight or availability reasons.
- 4.500" x 0.134" tube -- lighter wall than 6.5-28-127; lower weight, less impact resistance, same OD-based critical speed rating
- 4.234" butt diameter -- 0.250" larger than the heavy-wall variant; tube prep is wall-specific; do not interchange butt in wrong tube

- Complete the assembly with an 1810-series end yoke at the axle for full series capacity
The 4.500" tube at 0.134" wall provides a favorable stiffness-to-weight ratio for long commercial driveshafts where critical speed is the limiting factor. The large diameter raises the critical speed significantly versus a smaller-diameter heavy-wall tube of equal weight -- an important consideration for multi-piece shafts with spans exceeding 60 inches.
