The 1810 series is Spicer's largest standard-catalog joint series for on-highway commercial applications -- positioned above the 1710 and below the SPL series. The 6.5-28-127 fits a 4.500" tube at 0.259" wall -- an extraordinarily heavy-wall specification used where ballistic resistance, impact tolerance, or sustained heavy dynamic loading demands maximum tube robustness. The 3.984" butt diameter provides a centered pilot inside this heavy tube bore. The 3.375" CL-to-weld is the longest in the 1810 catalog for this tube size, positioning the weld joint well clear of the yoke ears to prevent heat-affected zone interference with the journal bores. This weld yoke requires an 1810-series U-joint at the correspondingly large cap size; do not substitute any lighter series component at this torque and speed rating.
