Q: How does the 4126-406A differ from the 4126-41A?
A: Both are 1410-series aluminum yokes for 4.000"x0.125" tube with a 3.757" butt diameter. The sole difference is CL-to-weld: 2.375" on the 4126-406A versus 2.875" on the 4126-41A. The shorter CL produces a shaft that is 0.500" longer for the same tube cut, or requires a tube 0.500" shorter to hit the same total shaft length. Select based on the required assembled shaft length.
Q: Is a 2.375" CL-to-weld safe for aluminum welding on a 0.125" wall tube?
A: Yes -- 2.375" provides adequate clearance from the U-joint journal area, and the 0.125" wall is robust enough that standard aluminum MIG welding technique (4043 or 5356 wire, interpass temp below 150 degrees F) produces acceptable welds without risk of burn-through. The tighter heat-affected zone boundary at 2.375" means weld cooling should be allowed fully before pressing in the U-joint -- allow 30 minutes at ambient temperature before joint installation.
Q: Do the 4126-41A and 4126-406A require different tube preparation?
