4103-317 1410 series nickel-plated transmission yoke, 30/31-spline x 1.391″, 7.750″ C/U-joint to end, 1.655″ counterbore.
Full Description
The 1.655" counterbore on 4103-317 distinguishes it from the no-counterbore 4103-318, which otherwise shares the same spline count and hub diameter. The counterbore in 4103-317 provides a piloting reference against the output bearing retainer OD -- in transmissions where this retainer shoulder is present, the counterbore eliminates any lateral float between yoke and shaft, reducing vibration at high RPM.
- Counterbore diameter: 1.655" -- measure the output retainer OD; should be a snug (but not interference) fit
- Splines: 30/31 x 1.391" -- same as 4103-318; the selection criterion is counterbore vs no counterbore
- C/U-joint to end: 7.750" -- slightly shorter than 4103-318 (8.340"); confirm which length your application requires
- Hub: 2.201" -- match to the transmission output seal bore
- Finish: Nickel Plated -- same corrosion resistance as other nickel-finish 1410 yokes in this family
When the original transmission yoke is worn or scored at the hub sealing surface, the new yoke must be a dimensional match -- hub OD, counterbore, and C/U-joint to end must all replicate the original to avoid changing the driveshaft operating geometry.
