3R-28-437 -- UDS 3R Series Weld Yoke, 3.000"x0.083" Tube, 2.844" Butt Diameter
The 3R series is General Motors' proprietary driveshaft standard, developed for GM 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks in the GMT400 platform era. It sits between 1310 and 1350 in torque capacity but uses its own distinct U-joint with different cap dimensions than either standard Spicer series. This matters because a 3R U-joint will not interchange with a 1310 or 1350 joint -- if you're sourcing U-joints for a 3R driveshaft, they must be specifically catalogued as 3R series.
The 3R-28-437 is the weld yoke for this series: it welds onto a 3.000-inch OD tube with 0.083-inch wall thickness. Butt diameter is 2.844 inches -- the outer dimension of the weld joint face. Center-of-U-joint to weld face runs 1.875 inches. Steel construction. Before welding, confirm tube OD and wall: a tube with 3.000-inch OD but 0.120-inch wall (common upgrade) will not seat correctly in this yoke.
