The 3526-35A is the aluminum 1350-series weld yoke for 3.500"x0.125" tube -- a moderate-diameter, moderate-wall specification that strikes a balance between weight, critical speed, and impact resistance. The 3.257" butt diameter is derived from the 0.125" wall: 3.500" - 2x0.125" = 3.250" bore; 3.257" butt provides 0.007" interference. The 1.750" CL-to-weld is the shorter variant; see 3526-356A for the 2.376" CL version.
For street performance cars in the 400--600 hp range with stock suspension geometry, the 3.500"x0.125" aluminum shaft with 1350 joints is a well-proven combination that provides excellent durability with meaningful weight savings over equivalent steel construction. Balance specification is 0.05 oz-in per correction plane for vehicles operating above 80 mph. Aluminum welding technique as previously described; use dedicated stainless wire brush for each new tube-to-yoke joint.
