3526-35CF -- 1350-Series Aluminum Weld Yoke for Carbon Fiber Tube

The 3526-35CF is designed specifically for carbon fiber driveshaft tube applications. Carbon fiber tubes are bonded to aluminum yokes using a different joining method than conventional MIG welding -- the "weld yoke" terminology here refers to the yoke type (tube-end yoke that would be welded in a steel application) rather than the joining process. In a carbon fiber shaft, the 3.500" butt stub on this aluminum weld yoke is inserted into the 3.790"x0.145" carbon tube and bonded with high-shear adhesive (typically a two-part structural epoxy or Loctite 638 or equivalent).

Critical installation notes for carbon fiber applications: the aluminum stub must be lightly knurled or bead-blasted to create a mechanical key for the adhesive; the carbon fiber tube inner bore must be scuffed with 80-grit abrasive paper to expose fresh fiber; the bonded joint must cure for a full 24 hours at room temperature before dynamic loading; and the bonded assembly must be balanced at the manufacturer-specified RPM. The 2.250" CL-to-weld (bond length) on the 3526-35CF provides adequate bonded surface area for the joint's 1350-series torque capacity. For higher-torque 1410 or 1480 applications in carbon fiber, a longer bond stub or larger-diameter tube is required.
