The 3126-35A offers the same 3.500" tube diameter as the steel 2-28-427 but in aluminum, reducing the yoke-and-tube assembly weight by approximately 2.5 lb. The trade-off is that aluminum fatigue life under combined bending and torsion is lower than steel at equivalent stress levels -- use this part where weight is a priority and the duty cycle is not severe. The center-to-weld dimension of 2.250" is longer than the steel equivalent (1.688"), which increases the installed yoke engagement in the shaft but also means the effective working length is affected.
