The 3-40-1871U is a series stub & midship shaft engineered to OEM-equivalent tolerances for reliable drivetrain performance. Universal Driveshafts supplies this part for applications where the stock component is no longer available from OEM channels or where a custom build requires a proven off-the-shelf solution rather than a machined one-off.

Component Function in the Drivetrain
The stub & midship shaft is not a glamorous part, but it is load-critical. Every pound-foot of engine torque passes through it on its way to the wheels. A worn, cracked, or dimensionally incorrect stub & midship shaft introduces vibration, unbalances the shaft, and accelerates wear on adjacent components including the u-joint cross, differential seal, and output shaft bearing. The 3-40-1871U replaces like-for-like with current production tolerances.
