This stub shaft differs from part 3-53-1951 (same spline and tube) in the end-to-weld dimension: 6.438" versus 10.625". The shorter stub means less splined engagement length is available outside the center support bearing -- verify minimum engagement overlap when the shaft is at full compression before selecting between the two variants. The 1.574" bearing journal diameter is the centering dimension for the center support bearing; a worn bearing seat will allow the inner race to spin on the journal, destroying the shaft surface rapidly. On two-piece driveshaft assemblies, replace the center support bearing whenever the stub shaft is serviced -- they wear as a matched pair.
