Full Description
When driveshaft length requires a large-diameter tube to control critical speed, a 4.000" OD tube becomes necessary. Critical speed rises with tube diameter and drops with shaft length, so a 4-inch tube on a long shaft can run at the same speed that would cause whip in a 3-inch tube. The 3-28-417 brings the 1350 series U-joint into this large-tube application.
The 1350 series handles the torque loads typical of 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks but the 4.000" tube is an unusual combination, seen primarily in custom and performance builds where shaft length forces the diameter up for critical speed compliance. This yoke will not fit standard 3.000" or 3.500" tube.

The 3.844" butt diameter (0.156" smaller than the tube OD) is the yoke's machine-turned pilot that fits inside the tube bore. Confirm your tube's actual ID before ordering: 4.000" OD x 0.083" wall yields a nominal 3.834" ID, so the butt should slip in with 0.002"-0.005" clearance for proper fit and weld concentricity.
