The 2880-58 center support bearing supports the midshaft section of a two-piece driveshaft, keeping it running concentric with the vehicle's drivetrain axis. When this bearing fails, the midshaft droops and the driveshaft angles change — you'll feel it as a vibration that gets progressively worse at highway speed. The 2880-58 center support bearing is the correct replacement for MERCEDES series applications, with the exact inner diameter and mount hole spacing your application requires.
2880-58 Center Support Bearing — MERCEDES Series Dimensions & Mount Specs
The 2880-58 center support bearing specs: 1.181" inner dia | 1.000" center-to-base | 7.125" mount spacing. Mercedes GLK CB #2, w/o bearing. Application: MERCEDES series. Inner diameter must match the midshaft stub OD exactly — a loose fit allows the bearing to walk on the shaft, which causes vibration and accelerates wear on both the bearing race and the shaft surface. Mount hole center-to-center spacing must match your crossmember bracket.
When replacing a center support bearing on a two-piece shaft, replace the complete assembly — bearing race, rubber isolator, and bracket together. A new race in an old hardened rubber mount still vibrates. The rubber isolator is what actually absorbs the midshaft movement; without it the bearing transmits every frequency directly to the frame.
