Full Description
The 2880-57 uses the 2.250" center-to-base height that is common across many platforms, but in this case applied to a Mercedes-Benz application with the 30 mm stub shaft bore. This combination is found on Mercedes larger sedan and estate models where the propshaft routing places the hanger bracket at the 2.250" standard height.
- Bore ID: 1.181" (30 mm) -- confirm the stub shaft OD is within Mercedes tolerance before pressing
- Center to base: 2.250" -- standard domestic and European hanger height; verify against the removed unit
- The center support bearing isolator compound on Mercedes applications is tuned for inline-6 and V8 driveshaft harmonic frequencies
- Mercedes OEM cross-references in the A 202 410 and A 210 410 series; confirm via STAR catalog and VIN
Tip: Mercedes propshaft center bearings on E-Class and S-Class models often sit close to the exhaust system. If the rubber isolator shows heat-cracking on the exhaust-facing side but clean surfaces on the other sides, the exhaust system has sagged or shifted and is radiating heat onto the center bearing. Correct the exhaust mount position before installing the replacement 2880-57.
