Full Description
Volvo trucks and commercial vehicles use larger 1480-series driveshafts, where the U-joint cap diameter is 1.375" -- significantly larger than the 1.062" caps used in light-duty 1310/1330 applications. The 1480-40 center support bearing carries a bore matching the 35 mm Volvo stub shaft journal at the 2.310" center-to-base height used on specific Volvo commercial platform configurations.
- 1480 series: U-joint cap diameter 1.375", designed for medium and heavy commercial duty torque levels
- Bore ID: 1.378" (35 mm) -- Volvo stub shaft journals use tight tolerance H7/r6 interference fit
- Center to base: 2.310" -- this dimension is specific to Volvo applications; do not substitute a 2.250" or 2.375" unit
- Compatible with center support bearing brackets on relevant Volvo truck crossmembers
Warning: 1480-series driveshafts operate under substantially higher torque loads than light-duty applications. The center bearing must be pressed to full depth on the stub shaft journal and the bracket bolts torqued to the Volvo-specified value (typically 60--80 Nm for commercial applications). Under-torqued brackets allow micro-movement that fatigues the rubber isolator within a fraction of the normal service interval.
