2-28-1697 -- 1330 Weld Yoke for 3.000x0.083 Tube
The 2-28-1697 is the 3.000"x0.083" tube variant of the 1330-series weld yoke catalog. The 2.844" butt diameter is standard for all 3.000"x0.083" weld yokes across 1330, 1350, 1410, and 7260/7290 series -- tube preparation is universal. The 1.719" CL-to-weld is consistent with the compact 1330-series yoke body geometry seen on the 2-28-1707 (2.500" tube, same CL). This confirms the 1330-series yoke body depth is independent of tube diameter within this tube size range -- the joint, not the tube, determines the CL dimension.
Common 3.000"x0.083" tube light-truck applications for the 1330 series include rear shafts on 1/2-ton pickups and compact SUVs from the 1980s through early 2000s. The 1330 U-joint is adequate for stock engine torque in these applications; lifted trucks or engine-swapped vehicles should be upgraded to 1350 or 1410 series. The Spicer 5-3250X joint is the standard cross-reference for 1330 joints at 1.062" cap and 1330-cup depth. Always verify the series by cup depth measurement -- a 1310 joint installed in a 1330 yoke ear bore will sit 0.030"--0.050" shallower than specified, insufficient for full snap-ring engagement.
