The 1453-261 is a fixed-style stub midship shaft specifically for Merkur driveshafts. The Merkur was a Ford-imported European model (XR4Ti and Scorpio) sold in North America during 1985-1989, using European driveshaft specifications. The 26-spline x 1.129" configuration is a European metric-rooted interface that does not appear on domestic North American applications.
The 0.095" tube wall is an unusual specification in this series - most stubs use 0.065" or 0.083" wall. The 0.095" wall provides a higher section modulus for a given tube OD, suitable for the higher-performance European drivetrain context of the Merkur.
