The 0.125" wall 4.000" aluminum tube is a common choice for recreational off-road and competition driveshaft builds where weight reduction is critical but torsional stiffness must be maintained. The heavier wall provides a larger heat-affected zone (HAZ) during welding compared to 0.083" material -- use lower travel speed and 4043 or 5356 filler depending on the base alloy.
