8-40-91 UDS Splined Midship Tube Shaft
The 8-40-91 is a splined midship tube shaft manufactured by UDS. In a two-piece driveshaft assembly, the midship shaft occupies the center section: one end carries the splined bore that accepts a slip yoke, and the other end connects to a U-joint. The shaft is welded into a driveshaft tube.
The spline specification is 16 X 3.000 — the slip yoke that slides onto this shaft must have an identical spline count and diameter. The shaft is designed to fit inside a 4.500" x 0.259 tube with a butt diameter of 3.984 inches at the weld joint. The end-to-weld dimension is 9.906 inches.
