The 1310WJ series cross uses a 1.188" cap diameter. Confirm all four yoke ear bores are 1310WJ series before ordering -- mixing series causes uneven bearing loads and early failure. If you are unsure of your series, measure the cap OD on the old cross or the yoke bore ID.

This cross is designed for use in DANA 30 - DANA 35 , DANA 44 FRONT AXLE SHAFT BETWEEN FORD MPAR AND GM applications. Verify both the series and the overall width (2.188") match your shaft configuration. The width determines the phasing position within the yoke ears -- a cross that is too narrow will have excess endplay; one that is too wide will bind.
Lubrication & Service Life
This cross is greaseable. Grease via the zerk fitting at every oil change interval using NLGI 2 extreme-pressure grease -- purge until fresh grease exits each seal. Regular greasing is the single most effective way to extend u-joint life.
Replacement Procedure
- Support the driveshaft fully -- do not let it hang by the joint during removal.
- Remove all four snap rings from the yoke ear cap pockets.
- Press each cap out by pushing the opposite cap through the bore.
- Clean and inspect all four cap bores for wear or out-of-round condition.
- Press the new 5-297XU caps squarely into the bores and reinstall snap rings.
- Verify no binding through the full operating angle range.
