The 3R03-327 is a transmission yoke in the 3 R series, providing the connection between the transmission output shaft and the front driveshaft section. With a 31/32 X 1.390 spline configuration and 1.700-inch hub diameter, this yoke is engineered for smooth engagement on the transmission tailshaft while providing correct U-joint bearing geometry for the 3 R series bearing caps.

Transmission Yoke Design Considerations
A transmission yoke differs from a flange yoke in that it mounts on a splined shaft rather than bolting to a face flange. The spline fit must be precise -- too tight and the yoke cannot be installed without damage; too loose and it will fret on the shaft, generating metallic debris and progressive wear that eventually affects the transmission's output seal. The 31/32 X 1.390 spline specification of the 3R03-327 is machined to the 3 R series standard, providing the correct minor diameter, major diameter, and lead tolerance for a proper non-fretting fit.

Service and Replacement
- Inspect the transmission output seal before installing a new yoke -- it is the most cost-effective time to replace it
- Clean the tailshaft spline thoroughly before installation to remove any debris from the worn yoke
- Apply a light coat of assembly lube to the splines before inserting the new yoke
- Torque the retaining nut to the transmission manufacturer's specification -- incorrect torque affects tailshaft endplay
