The 3526-201 is distinguished from the 3-28-777 by two factors: extra-thick yoke ears and a longer CL-to-weld (2.125" versus 1.750"). The extra-thick ears increase the load-bearing surface between the U-joint cap and the yoke ear bore -- a meaningful improvement on short, high-torque driveshaft stubs where impact loading from sudden engagement or driveline shock (wheelspin to hookup transitions) concentrates stress at the cap-to-ear bearing contact zone. Standard-thickness ears on a 1350 joint in this 2.000" tube application occasionally show premature cap-bore wear in competition environments; the extra-thick ear design addresses this failure mode directly.
The 0.375" longer CL-to-weld moves the weld further from the joint ears, which is also beneficial -- a weld bead that propagates heat closer than 1.500" to a U-joint ear bore can reduce the bore's hardness below the minimum required for needle bearing retention. This weld yoke is the correct choice for any 1350-series application at 2.000" tube where sustained high-torque or shock-load service is expected.
