The 0.065" wall on a 2.750" OD tube yields a D/t ratio of 42.3. While this is well within acceptable limits for most passenger-car rear shafts where peak torque is below 600 ft-lb, the thin wall does limit fatigue life under combined bending and torsion. On trucks with aggressive launch habits or traction-control-defeat modifications, the 0.083" wall version (3326-272) provides a better safety margin. The butt diameter of 2.625" on 3326-271 is 0.031" larger than on 3326-272 (2.594"), which reflects the reduced wall -- the same tube OD but less material means the internal diameter is larger, so the butt must be larger to achieve a slip fit.
