Stub Shaft 3140-1701-1 -- Bearing Journal ", 16 X 1.375" Spline
The 3140-1701-1 stub shaft is the linchpin of a correctly functioning two-piece driveshaft. Its " bearing journal determines which center support bearing you can use, while the 16 X 1.375" spline section (with 2.625" engagement) connects to the companion slip yoke or fixed yoke on the adjacent shaft section. The 1.766" butt end welds to 2.000 OD tube to complete the assembly.

Selection Guide -- When to Use This Part
- You are building or replacing a two-piece driveshaft with a " center support bearing.
- Your companion yoke has a 16 X 1.375" spline bore.
- Your tube OD is 2.000.
- Your layout requires a slip-style stub shaft (telescoping splined section absorbs driveline length changes).
Carrier Bearing Installation
The center support bearing presses onto the " journal. Always use an arbor press and a pilot sleeve that contacts only the bearing inner race -- pressing on the outer race will preload the bearing and cause premature failure. After pressing, confirm the bearing spins freely and has less than 0.001" of axial play.
Weld End
The 1.766" butt diameter accepts the driveshaft tube. Weld with even bead placement and balanced heat input to minimize distortion. Check the journal runout after welding.
