3-4-2231-1 -- Spicer 1350 Strap End Yoke, 10-Spline 1.500", 3.905" CJ-to-End
Strap-style yokes and snap-ring yokes are not interchangeable. The 3-4-2231-1 uses strap retention -- the U-joint caps are held in the yoke ears by bolted metal straps rather than internal snap rings. The companion U-joint must be a strap-type 1350 joint; a snap-ring-groove joint will not properly seat in these ears. When ordering replacement U-joints for this assembly, specify strap style explicitly.
The spline bore is 1.500 inches diameter with 10 splines. This bore slides onto the transmission or transfer case output shaft and is secured by a large retaining nut threaded onto the stub end of the shaft. Verify the output shaft has exactly 10 splines at 1.500-inch diameter -- a shaft with a different spline count (common variation: 16 splines at 1.375-inch) will not engage. The through-hole bore is 2.185 inches, which must clear the locking nut used to secure the yoke.
CJ-to-end is 3.905 inches (center of U-joint to open end of spline bore). This is the longest CJ-to-end in this family of 10x1.500 strap yokes -- the extra length provides more spline engagement depth with the output shaft, which matters on applications with long stub shafts.
