The 1253-261 stub shaft carries the center bearing race and connects the front section to the rear. Spline engagement on the transfer case or transmission end has to be exact.

The 1253-261 midshaft stub specs: 26 x 1.115 spline | 1.120" spline length | 2.375" butt dia | 3.125" end-to-weld | fits 2.500 tube. Note: USE WITH: 1204-261 , Uses 858018 nut. Verify spline count and butt diameter against your existing shaft.
The butt diameter must match the tube ID you're fitting it to -- a loose butt joint will introduce runout when welded.
