Full Description
The 3-40-1471 is a splined slip-style stub shaft for 2.500" x 0.083" driveshaft tubing. It is used as a midship stub -- the component that slides into the tube section of a two-piece driveshaft and allows the shaft length to change as the drivetrain moves through suspension travel.
Correct fitment requires that the butt diameter (2.344") matches or is slightly under the tube inside diameter. For 2.500" x 0.083" tube: ID = 2.500 - (2 x 0.083) = 2.334" nominal. Verify the actual tube ID with calipers before ordering. A butt that is too large will not slide into the tube; too small and the weld gap at the joint end will be excessive.
