2-28-327 -- Thin-Wall 1310 Weld Yoke for 3.000" Tube
There is an important reason to distinguish between 2-28-327 (0.065" wall) and 2-28-437 (0.083" wall) when ordering a 3.000" tube 1310-series weld yoke. The 0.065" wall version has a butt diameter of 2.875" -- 0.031" larger than the 0.083" wall version (2.844") -- because the thinner wall means a larger tube ID for the same OD. Mixing up the two produces a yoke that either will not fit or fits loosely, both of which compromise weld concentricity and subsequent shaft balance.
The 2-28-327 is suited to passenger-car and light-truck applications below 600 ft-lb peak torque where weight is a secondary consideration. For towing or performance applications, 2-28-437 (0.083" wall) is the preferred specification. Compatible 1310-series U-joint: Spicer 5-153X and equivalent; Neapco 2-0030 series. Install this weld yoke with ER70S-6 wire, full-penetration fillet, and verify runout under 0.005" before final weld.
