4826-50A – Weld Yokes – 1480 Series – Butt Dia 4.757″ – Tube Dia Wall 5.000X0.125

The 4826-50A is the standard-CL aluminum 1480-series weld yoke in the 5.000" tube class. At 2.875" CL-to-weld, it is 0.625" shorter than the Neapco A48-28-5012 (3.500" CL) and 0.125" shorter than the 4826-506A (3.000" CL). These 0.125"--0.625" differences between variants in the same series affect total assembled shaft length -- always measure the CL-to-weld on the original yoke before ordering a replacement.

• 4.757" butt diameter -- standard for all 5.000"x0.125" aluminum weld yokes in the 1480 series; tube prep is consistent across variants
• 2.875" CL-to-weld -- shorter CL variant; produces a slightly longer tube section for a given total shaft length
• Aluminum construction -- 6061-T6 typical; requires stainless wire brush oxide removal immediately before MIG welding
• 1480-series U-joint (1.375" cap) required at the ear bore
• This weld yoke is appropriate for performance street builds where driveshaft weight reduction is a priority

Aluminum weld yoke selection: the 0.125" wall 5.000" tube used with this yoke is the most common performance driveshaft tube specification for high-horsepower street cars and light competition use. At 5.000" OD and 0.125" wall, the critical speed of a 50" span exceeds 5,500 RPM driveshaft speed -- adequate for most applications up to 200 MPH in rear-drive passenger cars. Above that, two-piece shaft configurations with a center support bearing become necessary.
