3526-406A -- UDS 1350 Aluminum Weld Yoke, 4.000"x0.125" Tube, 3.757" Butt
Choosing aluminum over steel for a weld yoke is a weight decision: the 3526-406A saves mass at the yoke position, which reduces rotational inertia and unsprung weight in performance and motorsport driveshaft builds. The tradeoff is weld technique -- aluminum requires TIG welding with proper pre-heat and filler selection; MIG welds used on steel yokes are not appropriate here. The weld quality is more sensitive to operator skill than a steel joint, but a correctly executed aluminum weld on a balanced shaft is fully service-worthy.
Alternate part number: ATY1350-400. Tube fit: 4.000-inch OD at 0.125-inch wall. Butt diameter is 3.757 inches. CJ-to-weld is 2.375 inches. 1350 series ear bores accept a 1.188-inch cap U-joint. Confirm tube wall is exactly 0.125 inches -- a 0.120-inch or 0.134-inch wall tube changes the fit at the butt joint.
