Engineering Trade-off: The 3.000"x0.125" aluminum tube used with the 3526-30A provides high torsional stiffness at its diameter class, but its critical speed is significantly lower than the 3.500" or 4.000" variants at the same wall -- approximately 3,800 RPM at a 52" span. For vehicles with driveshaft speeds above 3,500 RPM at maximum speed, a larger-diameter tube is required. This size is appropriate for compact high-performance vehicles with short wheelbase and high-revving engines where the low critical speed is still above the maximum driveshaft RPM.

The 3526-30A is the aluminum 1350-series weld yoke for 3.000"x0.125" tube. The 2.757" butt and 2.500" CL-to-weld are specific to this tube size -- compare to the 3526-306A (same tube, longer CL at 2.500"... note: both show 2.500") and verify your required shaft length calculation. The 3.000" tube in this aluminum-yoke format is targeted at compact performance applications where overall assembly weight is critical and the driveshaft speed envelope remains within the critical speed limit. The 1350 U-joint at 1.188" cap is required -- specify the correct series complement joint when purchasing replacement hardware.
