The 2526-251 uses the shortest centerline-to-weld dimension in the 2.500" tube CVJ family at 1.390". This compact dimension indicates the CV centering socket (2552-1001) is a shallow-depth design, requiring the weld joint to sit as close to the U-joint centerline as is practically achievable without weld heat compromising the joint. The corresponding companion socket 2552-1001 is dimensionally different from the 2552-1002 used with the 2526-253 -- do not mix these companion sets.

• 1.390" CL-to-weld -- shortest in the 2.500" CVJ series; compact design for tight package constraints
• 2.344" butt diameter -- same as all other 2.500" tube CVJ weld yokes; tube preparation is identical
• Must be used with 2552-1001 CV socket and 2553-252 front tube yoke
• The 0.110" difference in CL-to-weld vs. the 2526-253 shifts the CV socket seating depth and changes the centering ball preload -- not interchangeable despite identical tube spec
• Complete the assembly with a CV joint kit for centering ball, socket spring, and retaining hardware

Verify the tube cut length with the correct weld yoke in hand before final assembly. Substituting a longer CL-to-weld yoke will effectively shorten the tube -- a 0.110" error here translates directly to a 0.110" error in assembled shaft length, which can push the rear U-joint out of its working angle specification by a measurable amount.
