Tube Wall Difference: The 2252-681 uses a 2.500"x0.065" tube (thin wall, 2.375" butt diameter), while the 2252-683 uses a 2.500"x0.083" tube (thick wall, 2.344" butt diameter). The butt diameter difference (0.031") reflects the different tube bore sizes -- never mix these two yokes with the wrong tube wall thickness, as the pilot will either be loose (thin yoke in thick-wall tube) or will not seat (thick yoke in thin-wall tube).

The 2252-681 is the thin-wall IRS weld yoke at 0.065" wall, providing a lighter assembly than the 0.083" variant while maintaining the same CVJ IRS geometry. The 3.500" centerline-to-weld is identical to the 2252-683, confirming both use the same CV socket body depth. The 2.375" butt diameter is the standard pilot for 2.500"x0.065" tube across the CVJ and standard series. Application is specifically for independent rear suspension driveshaft builds where the lighter tube weight reduces unsprung mass at the axle -- an advantage in performance applications where IRS geometry is already optimized for handling.
