The 6-28-347 is the standard-CL 1710-series weld yoke for 4.000"x0.134" tube -- the most common pairing in heavy commercial vehicle driveshafts. The 3.734" butt diameter corresponds to the 4.000" tube bore at 0.134" wall (4.000" - 2x0.134" = 3.732" bore; 3.734" butt provides essentially zero clearance for tight self-centering). The 3.031" CL-to-weld is the standard for Spicer heavy-commercial weld yoke geometry at this tube size.

The 1710-series cap diameter (1.938") is easy to confuse with the 1610 cap (1.875") when worn surfaces make precise measurement difficult. A go/no-go gauge at 1.875" will confirm: if the gauge passes through a 1710 bore, the bore is correct; if it does not pass through a 1610 bore, the bore is also correct. Installing a 1610 joint in a 1710 yoke ear bore leaves 0.063" radial clearance per side -- visible as a loose-feeling fit during assembly and a definite failure within hundreds of miles under load. This weld yoke requires the 1710 joint.
