- 1480 series: 1.375" cap diameter U-joint; verify series (not just cap OD) when sourcing replacement joint
- 3.500" x 0.095" tube -- medium-wall specification common on 3/4-ton and 1-ton pickup rear shafts

When replacing this 1480-series weld yoke on a production truck, confirm the driveshaft tube is straight and round before welding. Trucks that have experienced underbody impacts sometimes have a bent tube that was not detected at the time of the incident. A tube with more than 0.020" of bow per foot will not balance correctly regardless of how precisely the yoke is welded, and the resulting vibration may be mistaken for a U-joint problem, leading to unnecessary additional repairs.
