The 3104-301 end yoke slides onto the axle or transfer case output shaft and holds the u-joint cross at the end of the driveshaft. It's a spline-specific fit for 1310 series applications — the spline count determines engagement, the hub diameter determines outer clearance, and the series determines which u-joint cross the ears accept.
