9980-52 -- Subaru AWD Center Support Bearing, 30 mm Bore, 0.750" Height
The 9980-52 is a commonly replaced Subaru AWD center support bearing using a 30 mm (1.181") bore and a 0.750" compact bracket height. This low-profile specification is found across several Subaru models where the AWD propshaft passes close to the tunnel crossmember.
A specification detail that affects this unit specifically: Subaru uses a snap ring or retaining clip on the stub shaft to prevent the center bearing from migrating axially under acceleration loading. When removing the 9980-52, note whether a snap ring is present -- and if so, its position. Re-installing the snap ring incorrectly after pressing the new bearing will result in axial movement of the propshaft section, producing a clunk under load transitions that is frequently misdiagnosed as U-joint failure.
Subaru OEM part number in the 27471 series applies. Note: the 9980-51 also uses 0.750" height but differs in bracket configuration -- compare OEM part numbers rather than dimensions alone when choosing between these SKUs.
