BMW application center support bearing with 1.378″ bore and 2.125″ center-to-base height; rubber-isolated assembly for BMW two-piece propshaft mid-span hanger.
Full Description
With a 2.125" center-to-base height, the 2780-50 is one of the taller BMW-application center support bearings in the 2780 series. This dimension is used where the BMW propshaft tunnel crossmember sits higher relative to the propshaft centerline -- a geometry found on larger BMW models with more vertical tunnel clearance.
- Bore ID: 1.378" (35 mm) -- confirm the stub shaft OD is within 35.000--35.013 mm for correct interference fit
- Center to base: 2.125" -- measure the removed bearing; this dimension is not common in the domestic truck aftermarket and substitution with a 2.250" unit will misalign the propshaft
- Rubber isolator: bonded construction, tuned for BMW propshaft resonant frequency range
- Compatible with center support bearing bracket slots on BMW models using this mount height
Tip: BMW recommends replacing the propshaft center bearing as a complete assembly (bearing plus bracket), not just the inner bearing insert. The rubber isolator degrades at a similar rate to the ball bearing -- replacing only the inner bearing while leaving a hardened, cracked isolator bracket will not resolve vibration complaints and results in a repeat repair within 15,000--20,000 miles.
